About us.
Millions of people worldwide are looking to upskill so that they can keep up with the rapidly changing tech domain. Exciting new tech, digital innovations, AI, AR and a handful of other emerging factors have changed the way we do our jobs, create our projects and organise our careers. The need to upskill, gain more experience and make new connections has never been more important for everyone across the globe.
In 2024, friends and former colleagues Oscar Venhuis and Matt Fleming came up with an innovative new way to do exactly that: upskill, gain more real-world experience and make new relevant connections that could see real jobs and projects emerge as a result. Oomou was born. And it was about to change the way we prepare for the next phase in our careers.
Oscar, a business designer and educational facilitator based in Hong Kong, and Matt, a content creator, journalist, editor and strategist based in the UK, came up with a concept that hadn’t been tried before: organising real-world projects set by domain experts and leading companies and encouraging professionals to undertake those projects in real time with the opportunity to connect with relevant hirers. It’s a win-win for all involved.
Oscar, who has worked for the likes of Nike, Adidas and General Assembly, and Matt, who has worked for leading newspapers and Time Out International, previously worked together at Hong Kong co-working giant, theDesk, where they found their skills complemented each other and they both had the passion to create something new and exciting in the careers and tech education market.
And so they created Oomou as a way to give back to others after their successful careers. Join us on our journey as we reshape how professional courses work, facilitate crucial connections and create opportunities in an ever-more competitive world.
